    "Number Stations" at SEAMUS

    I will be traveling to Miami to perform Paul Leary’s Number Stations for sax and tape at the 26th National Conference of the Society for Electro-Acoustic Music in the United States (SEAMUS). I commissioned and premiered this piece in 2010, so it’s very excited to have it chosen for performance at SEAMUS!

    Emerging Voices Project - Kickoff Concert

    Elisabeth Halliday and I will be wrapping up our fundraising efforts for our Emerging Voices Project with a concert in New York City! Earnings from the concert will fund our project to commission Adam Knauss, George Lam, and Kathleen Bader to write pieces for voice and saxophone.     Spectral Summer Professional Performance Workshop

    I am excited to be participating in the 2011 Spectral Summer Professional Performance Workshop at Boston University! We will be working on rep June 2-5 with a performance on the last day. From their website:

    The Callithumpian Consort’s Spectral Summer Professional Performance Workshop is a workshop focused on the techniques required for the performance of spectral music hosted by Boston University’s College of Fine Arts, School of Music, featuring workshop composer-in-residence Joshua Fineberg. During the workshop, Joshua Fineberg and the Callithumpian Consort’s Artistic Director Stephen Drury will coach a group of experienced professional musicians on the performance practice and techniques specific to spectral music via their preparation of major works of spectral music. Performance techniques include microtonal intonation, extended timbral techniques, orchestral fusion, and others. The centerpiece of this workshop will be the rehearsal and performance of a new piece commissioned from Joshua Fineberg by the Callithumpian Consort.
